David A. Fagerberg has had a love of American history dating back to Fess Parker's portrayals of Davy Crockett and Daniel Boone in the 1950's and 60's. This strong interest in America's Colonial history lay dormant until the early 1990's when he discovered historical reenacting. He chose to portray a "longhunter" during the years of the French & Indian War (1754-1763). In 1994 , his interest turned to military reenacting. As a result, he was instrumental in forming a French & Indian War military unit known as Rogers' Rangers in his hometown. He honed his leadership skills by commanding a number of Ranger units at battle reenactments throughout the Midwest & Northeast. Annually, he travels east of his Kansas City area home to participate in as many as fifteen living history events.

In an article in the May/June 2000 issue of Muzzleloader Magazine, Mr. Gary Foreman stated, "David Fagerberg gives an astonishing appearance as General Andrew Jackson. He is a cross between Charlton Heston and the Andrew Jackson that you see on the twenty dollar bill." For its cover, this national magazine selected a picture of Fagerberg as General Jackson astride his warhorse.
